What did Childnet Digital Leaders schools do for Anti-Bullying Week 2018?

Anti-bullying week 2018 ran from 19th to 23rd of November 2018 and Digital Leaders from around the UK ran a variety of fantastic events.  For sharing their Anti-Bullying Week activities on the platform, Digital Leaders received a badge and 100 points!

Clayesmore Preparatory School

Digital Leaders at Clayesmore Preparatory School wore colourful hats instead of odd socks to celebrate diversity and to make sure they were seen in their school assembly where they did an anti-bullying presentation.  They talked about how to show respect to others and played the ‘UNIQUE’ song by Andy and the Odd Socks!

Bromley High School Juniors

The Bromley High School Juniors Digital Leaders made their own presentations on cyberbullying and shared these during registrations periods with form groups around the school.  They really thought about their audience by tailoring their sessions appropriately for the age group they were working with.  The Digital Leaders shared their ‘How to be a good friend online’ posters in assembly and they also wrote a blog on their school site to share their Anti-Bullying Week activities with parents and carers.

Hazelmere Junior School

Hazelmere Junior School Digital Leaders started a ‘100 acts of kindness’ challenge, whereby children could tick off a name on their classroom wall chart if that person had been kind to them.  Certificates were then given in assembly to those who had shown kindness throughout the week.  The week showed students and teachers how important it is to be kind to others, not only for Anti-Bullying Week, but all year round!

St Mary’s Church of England School in Woodbridge

St Mary’s Church of England School in Woodbridge did a presentation on cyberbullying in their school assembly wearing their odd socks.  They talked about what cyberbullying is and how to report it.  They also took part in a role play exercise to show what you should do if you are cyberbullied.

Manor Junior School

Manor Junior School took part in Odd Sock Day and ran workshops and assemblies throughout the week on cyberbullying and anti-bullying.  In the workshops they acted out how bullying can affect people’s lives and how to deal with these issues.  The school also carried out a survey with the children on anti-bullying and found ‘The biggest concern shared by pupils is the name calling in the playground.’  To help to with this concern, Manor Junior School are introducing playground pals to develop positive play, as well as training staff on how to promote positive play.

Acklam Grange School

Acklam Grange Digital Leaders got very creative and put on an open-mic day!  Mo, a Digital Leader from Acklam Grange, has written a blog about their exciting day and you can read it in full here.

Christ Church CE (VC) Primary School

At Christ Church CE (VC) Primary School, the whole school took part in odd socks day!  The Digital Leaders also created posters based on Stop, Speak, Report resources from the Anti-Bullying Alliance website.
